Spacers and standoffs are used to create a certain distance or space between parts or components. Verpas supplies a wide range of spacers in both plastic and metal in various models, diameters and heights. Spacers and standoff pieces can be applied in various fields, including electrical engineering (printed circuit boards), appliances and machines, building and construction, installation technology, trailer and vehicle construction, etc.
Spacers are generally round (cylindrical) with a continuous bore. Standoffs, unlike spacers, have internal and/or external threads or even snap connections. The external shape of the spacer is often either round or hexagonal.
The range of spacer bushings is vast because of the available variations in outer diameter, height and bore. We offer many diameters and heights as standard. In terms of height, even custom manufacturing increasing by millimetres is possible. The continuous bore is suitable for metric bolt sizes from M3 up to M30. Popular are spacers suitable for M5, M6, M8, M10, M12 and M16.
Besides cylindrical spacers, we also offer plastic bushes and washers with one or more pipe recesses, also referred to as saddle washers or saddle spacers. Plastic saddle washers are used, among other things, to connect round tubes to one another or to fasten them to a flat surface. Alternatively, saddle washers are also used to create pivot points or swivel joints, e.g. a pivot point between round tubes like in a folding chair.
As indicated earlier, standoffs are equipped with threaded and/or snap fasteners. Basically, there is a choice between internal and external threads in sizes M2, M2.5, M3, M4, M5 and M6. Generally, standoffs are used to fix electrical components such as circuit boards and sensors. Incidentally, spacers are also called spacer bolts or spacer nuts and/or threaded bushings.
There is a choice of plastic or metal, although combinations are also possible. Spacers and standoffs made of plastic are generally electrically insulating and to some extent vibration reducing. In addition, the chemical or corrosion resistance of plastics may be important. Common plastics are polyamide (PA - Nylon) whether or not fibre-reinforced or polyethylene (PE). Other plastics such as polycarbonate (PC) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) etc. are available on request.
Metal spacers are available in aluminium, steel, brass or stainless steel and standoffs in either steel (galvanised or nickel-plated), brass (bright or nickel-plated) or aluminium. The choice for a certain metal may depend on strength/load capacity, temperature, electrical or thermal conductivity, etc.
Finally, standoffs in a combination of plastic and metal. Here, the electrical insulating properties of the plastic and the mechanical properties of a metal thread are often important. Product examples are insulation spacers, insulation spacer bolts and insulation supports.
