Tube connectors

Tube connectors are designed for joining round, square or rectangular tube and box sections. With tube connectors, a solid and neat tube connection can be made quickly and easily without drilling, screwing, gluing or welding. In short, tube connectors are the ideal solution for quickly building solid tube frames and structures. There are also other smart and quick joint solutions. Curious?

What types of tube connectors are there?

Tube connectors are available for various tube shapes such as square, rectangular, round and flat-oval. Square is by far the most common shape and is usually applied in combination with aluminium profiles in size 20x20, 25x25, 30x30 or 40x40mm. Besides aluminium, stainless steel or steel profiles and tubes are also used.

Basically, there are three types of tube connectors:

Self-clamping tube connectors joints simply tap into the tube or box section and it is then secured by a clamp fit. This type of connector is available in various geometries. The simplest shape is straight and intended for tube extension. There are also 90° degree L-pieces (corner pieces), T-pieces, cross-pieces, etc. Apart from the straight version, all these connector joints are available in single (2D) or multiple versions (3D and 4D).

In contrast, the expander connector clamps according to the basic principle of a spreader plug and thus clamps into a tube through expansion. An expansion insert connector consists of two plastic shells. While tightening the bolt connection, a hex bolt or nut is pulled into a conical chamber of the shells, causing the connector insert to expand. After sufficient expansion, the insert is firmly secured in the tube and the joint is tensile loadable.

And then there are offset corner connectors, which enable lateral connections. Simply said, an offset corner connector is a self-clamping insert with one or more lateral recesses or bores, either threaded or not. Offset corner connectors can be used to mount adjustable feet or castors laterally on a tube or box section.

What types of materials are tube connectors available in?

Verpas mainly offers plastic tube connectors in the following plastics:

  • Polyamide
  • Polyamide reinforced with glass fibres
  • Polyamide with steel or stainless steel core

Often, a plastic tube connector is sufficiently strong. A metal core is used in situations where large forces are applied to the structure or in cases where high stability or rigidity is desired, such as aquarium frames. What are typical application examples with tube connectors?

Tube connectors are typically used in building systems with aluminium tubes or box section profiles. Examples of such use include animal accommodations, such as kennels, benches, volieries and cages.

In addition, tube connector joints are also widely used for interior construction, e.g. frame constructions, displays, tables, cabinets, shelves and display cases for trade fair and stand construction and shop fitting.

Tube connector joints and fixings are also often used in commercial vehicle and motorhome interiors to create compartments, shelves, cabinet units and other furniture. And these are just a few examples of many. We will be happy to inform you about the possibilities. Contact
