Measurement instructions for caps and inserts

Our website contains a large selection of caps and inserts. But how to determine the right size? To measure is to know. Hereby an easy step by step measurement instruction.

Measurement instruction caps

  1. It's preferred to always measure the tube or pipe itself. (Measure in millimetres) Measuring the cap itself could give a wrong measurement because of distortions! 
  2. To determine the tube or pipe size you can measere te outer dimensions preferably with a caliper or if not available with a ruler (Picture 1)
  3. In the article group of your choice you can select the measured Tubesize by using the filter option 'Tubesize'. After selecting the right value, a selection of suitable caps will be displayed.

Measurement instructions inserts

  1. It's preferred to always measure the tube or pipe itself. (Measure in millimetres) Measuring the cap itself could give a wrong measurement because of distortions! 
  2. To determine the tube or pipe size you can measere te outer dimensions preferably with a caliper or if not available with a ruler (Picture 1). The measured values correspond with the tube or pipe size of the insert.
  3. Thereupon u need to determine the wallthickness of the tube or pipe. There a two ways to do so:
    1. You can either measure the wall thickness of the pipe or tube. The measured size is the wall thickness of the pipe or tube in Millimetres.
    2. Or you can measure the inner tube or pipe size (Picture 2). The measured size must be subtracted from the previous measured outer size. Next the outcome of this subtraction must be divided by two, which results is the wall thickness of the pipe or tube.  
  4. In the article group of your choice you can select the measured tube size by using the filter option 'Tube size'. Next you need to select the correct wall thickness or wall thickness range, a selection of suitable inserts will be displayed.

Remarque
Many inserts in our assortment are designed to clamp within a minimum and maximum wall thickness, therefore these inserts are suitable for multiple wall thicknesses. On the other hand we also have inserts for a specific wall thickness. So we have versatile and specific inserts in our assortment.

Exceptions
Two models are excluded from above described measuring instruction. Concerning "End cap inserts without ribbing - domed head - heavy-duty quality - for round tube" and "End cap inserts without ribbing - heavy-duty quality - for round tube". These inserts are designed for a specific inner tube or pipe size.
